Winter Jam

     On Saturday January, 28th Radio 104.5 held their annual Winter Jam at the Piazza at Schmidts. New Found Glory headlined the show along with Fun. Philly's own Rivers Monroe kicked off the winter event. 

     The Piazza at Schmidts is such a cool place! It is a huge square located on 2nd Street and Germantown Avenue, in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Piazza holds tons of events all year around, such as markets, concerts, and festivals. The square is surrounded by a bunch of apartments, restaurants, and shops.

      The opening act is from Philadelphia. It is always nice seeing local talent. My favorite song of theirs is called Meteors and is available on iTunes.

     After Rivers Monroe, one of my favorite bands came on! They go by the name of Fun. and they hold the number five spot for my most anticipated albums of 2012. I have seen them never in concert before so I was extremely excited! I was lucky enough to get right upfront. just in time! I do not know how i managed that, because the crowd was massive! Fun. is unreal live. Their lead singers voice is so powerful and the musicians are indescribable. They sang songs from their old album Aim and Ignite and they also sang some new music from their upcoming album Some Nights. The crowd favorite was their new song We Are Young.

     Last, but certainly not least was New Found Glory. Philly loves them, they have been playing in Philly for the past fourteen years. This groups has so much energy on stage. The crowd went wild when they sang their newest song Anthem For the Unwanted. They even threw in a few covers.

     The Crowd was so fun. They were completely insane! Beach balls were flying and and people were crowd surfing all over the place. I am not quite sure how, but some woman almost made it to the stage. I have no idea how she managed to do that, but she has my respect. haha!

     This year's Winter Jam was by far the biggest Radio 104.5 show I have ever been to. So many cool and enthusiastic music lovers filled the square from wall to wall. It was unforgettable. 

     Radio 104.5 is my favorite radio station of all time. I always try to go to all of their shows, because they always guarantee a good time. I cannot wait for their summer block party series! If you are in the Philadelphia area, come to the next show! You will have the best time!

Music: Most Anticipated of 2012

     Last year was a fantastic year in music, a ton of amazing new bands surfaced and genius albums came out. But, what is in store for this year? Today I am giving you a list of my top five most anticipated albums of 2012. I have been a fan of these five band's for quite some time! They can do no wrong and I cannot wait for these albums to come out.
   
     5) Fun.'s follow up to 'Aim and Ignite' is called 'Some Nights'. I am a huge fan of 'Aim and Ignite' so I imagine this album is going to be just as good if not better. 'Some Nights' is scheduled to come out February 21st 2012. I am attending a Fun. show next Saturday for Radio 104.5's Winter Jam! I have never seen them live before and could not be more excited! Their single  We are Young comes off their new album and I hope its sound rings true to the rest of the album, because it is an incredible song!

     4) Next up is Muse! I absolutely love Muse! I saw then back in 2009 when they were opening for U2! They are impressive live and I would love to experience that again! Muse says that they want to go in a different direction with this one and the change is going to be extreme. This album is still unnamed, but is expected to be released in October of this year.

     3) Of coarse I am pumped for Mumford and Sons' new album. There is no set release date and it remains unnamed. Their bassist described their new album as "doom folk," when interviewed by Rolling Stone. Personally I cannot wait to see what that means.  This would be their second album and it has big shoes to fill. Their first album Sigh No More was very popular and successful.

     2) I have always loved Civil Twilight, I saw them last year and they are just cool. Their new album is titled 'Holy Weather.' The release date is going to be March 27th, and right now if you go to their website you can download their new single Fire escape for 99  cents and on iTunes you can get their new song How'm I Supposed to Die.

      1) I am the MOST excited for A Silent Film's new album. It is said that it is expected to come out early this year and still remains unnamed. I instantly fell in love with their first EP 'the Projectionist' and their album 'The City that Sleeps' is unreal! I have seen them twice last year and heard a few new songs! Let me tell you.................they are AMAZING! I cannot wait to hear the final product later this year!

Music: Best of 2011

    This was a fantastic year in music, some fabulous albums came out and I cannot wait to share them with you! Indie, Alternative, and Rock are my absolute favorite genres of music! Here is a brief summary of all my favs!!
     I have always been a fan of The Black Keys, their new album has made me an even bigger fan! It is called El Camino. The duo never ceases to amaze me with their musical talent. They have a distinct sound that keeps your toe tapping and its almost impossible not to sing along. My favorite of this album is Lonely Boy and Dead and Gone. If you love their hit Tighten Up, then you will fall head over heels for this album!
       Next up is a new band from Iceland, they are called Of Monsters and Men. By now you have probably heard their single Little Talks. I think it is the most fantastic song! I love everything about it! Their EP Into the Woods is available on iTunes and I highly recommend you suppoirt them! You will be glad you did!
        This next one is obvious! Of course  one of the best of the year is Foster the People! They are universally appealing to everyone. They have a catchy beat and underlying messages to go with their upbeat tunes. It is hard not to love their music!
        I am so obsesssed with Young the Giant! I love all of their music, my personal favorite is the song Strings. I think they are one of the best artists  of this year! I was lucky enough to see them over the summer! They sound perfect live. Sameer, the lead singer has a fantastic voice, it is so clear! I was also very lucky to meet them! They are the nicest group ever! If you are not already in love with their hits like My Body and Cough Syrup, listen to their album!!! hahaha thats me with them it was hard trying to keep a straight face with them because we were all laughing so hard!! haha I look so starstruck!

     Another cool new band goes by they name of The Scholars! They are fantastic! Their EP, Arrival Departure is available on iTunes. They are from England, and The Scholars have the coolest sound! I thinl that if you are a fan of Interpol you will really like these guys.
     Mother Mother is a fantastic band. Their album came out last march and is called Eureka. This is definatly worth a listen. Chasing it Down is my favorite off that album! I am so happy I heard about this band and I hope you all enjoy them as well!
      My favorite song of the year is a little different, but its called Midnight City by M83! I listen to that song 24/7! In fact the whole album is worth listening to. When i heard it the first time I was transported somewhere else.
     Another fantastic band of 2011 is The Head and the Heart! I really like there music, it is cool and relaxing and absolutly incredible! I love their song Cats and Dogs.
      I instantly fell in love with the Kooks' new album Junk of the Heart! I listened to it once and knew it was a winner! Their music has a cool 70's vibe and makes you feel good. It is truly a feel good album! I want to see them live sooo badly! I recently just missed their show in Philly, but I hope they come back as soon as possible!!!
     OMG Awolnation probably has the most fun album of the year! It has a mix of so many genres of music, but it all flows into one beautiful Megalithic Symphony! (Thats their album name!)
     Mr. Little Jeans is a cool group. I love their song The Rescue Song, and it came out this year! It has a killer indie sound.
     Those are my Fav albums, songs, and artists of the year! There really is too much to say about them, so having a listen for yourself is the best thing that can be done!!!

Jeans

    Ahhh jeans.......the most painful thing to go shopping for. Finding the perfect pair is difficult, but not impossible. Trying on jeans takes a long time, and it is uncommon to find a pair that fits in the first few tries. I try on a BAZILLION pairs of jeans before I find the right ones for me. Jeans are probably the most important thing anyone could have in their wardrobe. It is a comfortable way to look faboulous, they can be dressed up, but they can also be a quick casual look, just to run errands. Hopefully, these tips will make jean shopping painless.
     Dark wash jeans are the most universally flattering wash. The dark wash doesn't draw to much attention to the lower half, this make you look thinner and draws the eye up, so you look taller too! The lighter washes on the hips, thighs, and  butt makes you appear wider.
     Let's talk pockets. I am putting the pattern on my pockets makes my butt look big myth to rest. The patterns on your pockets do not make your butt look bigger, the shape, proportion, and placement of the pocket is what jean shoppers need to look out for. Make sure the pockets are centered on the bum. Not too high, not too low, and not to far off to the side.
     The fit is essential. Please, please, please, please, PLEASE, dont try to wear jeans that are too tight. Fitted and tight are to very different things! Don't confuse them!! Size doesn't matter, just wear what looks good on you. That goes the other way too, jeans that are too baggy are as equally unflattering and jeans that are too tight. 
     The MOST flattering jeans on the planet are narrow through the thigh and flare out at the knee. It slims the leg and legnthens the leg line. So, you end up looking a size smaller and a gazillion times taller.
     Keep in mind that if the pants are too long, getting them hemmed is a quick fix. Speaking of length make sure the jean comes to the bottom of the heel, just about to graze the ground, but not quite.
     Those are, what I think, the most important things to know about buying jeans! Keep these tips in mind and jean shopping will be a breeze.

Black faux leather jacket is from TJmaxx. The scarf is compliments of my Aunt! She is a fantastic knitter/crochet-er. And she has been teaching me the trade ever since I was little! For a cute scarf you can go about anywhere. ( Forever 21, TJmaxx, etc.)
